The club originally introduced the McCarthy Medal (originally for best afield when playing Yarraville Club First XI).

The McCarthy family have been involved in the club since the early 90’s when Clinton and Michael first played/coached at the club while brother Richard also played at Spotty.

Vale Roy Picone

On behalf of the Spotswood cricket club we are extremely saddened to hear of the very recent passing of our former Secretary and Life Member Roy Picone.

Roy played 265 games at spotty, 3 premiership’s. Scc life member 1970, VTCA life member 2005. North B2 comp named after him. Has been delegate, Secretary, treasurer of the club. Liaison officer with Hobsons bay council. Won numerous awards from commonwealth government with the Australian sports medal service to cricket. Awards from cricket Australia and cricket vic.

Left hand dour bat who Scored 149 as his top score in firsts and took 8 wickets with his slow leg breaks

Bottom rooms named after him. Lived in the same house for his 95 1/2 years.

Roy will be sorely missed and we will miss seeing him around the rooms every season.
